Who We Are

Recess is a three-day, activity-based club experience designed to mobilize the Church to go outside its walls to take the message of Jesus into neighborhoods - similar to Backyard Bible Club.

What We Do

Recess is a neighborhood ministry that equips a coordinator in a neighborhood to gather a team to serve neighbors together. We also equip churches to recruit, train, and promote Recess. Resources are provided for three separate themes of Bible lessons, games, music, snacks, and crafts.

Why We Do It

We know fewer and fewer kids are attending church. And we believe the younger years of a child are significant for forming spiritual foundations. Recess takes the joyful message of hope where kids are – their own neighborhood.

When Clubs Meet

      • 3 days
      • 2 hours each day
      • You choose the day and time

Most Recess clubs meet in backyards, neighborhood parks, or community centers during the summer. Volunteers determine the times best for their schedules. Sample schedules are provided to maximize the two hours spent with the children.
